But to simply say that large car sales increased in Canada in July is to miss the fact that much of the category struggled last month. Subtract the new Nissan Maxima from the equation and the category was actually down 19% in July 2015, a loss of 214 units, despite gains from the Dodge Charger and Ford Taurus.

The latest Maxima jumped to a second-place result in the segment in July 2015, up from seventh place one year ago and fifth place a month ago. 

After tumbling 35% through the first five months of 2015, the new Maxima has powered the nameplate to a 51% gain through the first seven months of the year.
