Minivan Sales In Canada - July 2015 YTD

Minivan volume continued on a downward trend in Canada in July 2015, falling 8% largely because of a 19% drop in Dodge Grand Caravan sales.

The Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country saw their Windsor, Ontario, plant shutdown for retooling earlier this year. This dragged down fleet volume for the two fleet-friendly vehicles and cast a shadow over the minivan market.

The two FCA products and their direct rivals generated only 4.6% of the Canadian auto industry's new vehicle volume in July 2015, down from 4.9% at this stage a year ago.

Meanwhile, mini-MPVs from Chevrolet (the defunct Orlando), Mazda (the discontinued-in-America 5), and Kia (the still fresh Rondo) are slowing to a crawl. Only 523 of these vehicles were sold in the Canada in July, a 30% drop.
