Complete List Of Every Body-On-Frame SUV Sold In America In 2016, And How Well They All Sell

2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited
Of the 6.4 million utility vehicles sold in America during the 2015 calendar year, 698,635 were traditional body-on-frame sport-utility vehicles.

With just 10.9% of the market for utility vehicles belonging to ess-you-vees, it's easy to conclude that these forerunners to the modern crossover have lost the war. But that doesn't mean many of these true-blue SUVs aren't leaving the battlefield with some spoils. Below, we've compiled a complete list of the 18 body-on-frame SUVs on the market in America in 2016 along with some marketplace context.

Setting aside the Nissan Xterra and Toyota FJ Cruiser – discontinued SUVs with no potential for meaningful U.S. sales volume in 2016 – 13 of the 18 body-on-frame SUVs listed here posted improved U.S. sales volume in 2015. In fact, as the SUV/crossover sector posted a collective 16% year-over-year U.S. sales improvement in 2015, five body-on-frame utility vehicles grew faster than the sector overall.

Nearly three out of every ten body-on-frame SUVs sold in America in 2015 were Jeep Wranglers and Wrangler Unlimiteds. In a record year for the auto industry, the Jeep Wrangler essentially matched the growth rate of the booming SUV/crossover sector with record-breaking sales of its own: nearly 203,000 units.

Americans registered more than 6.4 million utility vehicles in 2015, nearly 690,000 of which were body-on-frame SUVs. It's possible that the former figure will climb above 7 million units in 2016. The degree to which this traditional SUV segment contributes to marketplace expansion will be left up to the 18 vehicles on this complete, exhaustive list of every body-on-frame SUV sold in the United States in 2016.
