U.S. Vehicle Sales Rankings By Model - January 2016
U.S. SUV/Crossover Sales Rankings By Model - January 2016
A year ago, automakers had 26 selling days in which to generate their luxury SUV/crossover sales. There were only 24 such days one year later. Yet even the shorter sales month, a massive east coast winter storm, and a December in which many analysts believed sales were brought forward, the smallest utilities jumped 80%, the core group of small luxury utilities rose 16%, and their larger and more costly siblings rose 15%.
In its 17th month, the Mercedes-Benz GLA recorded its best U.S. sales month ever, and by a wide margin. Year-over-year, GLA sales were up 80%, a gain of 1163 units.
Up a segment, Mercedes-Benz GLC/GLK sales more than doubled.
Up another segment, the Mercedes-Benz GLE/ML posted a 17% increase.
In total, Mercedes-Benz USA sold 13,586 SUVs and crossovers in January 2016, a 32% increase. Mercedes-Benz led all premium brands in U.S. volume in the first month of 2016, and the SUV/CUV total alone was well in excess of the total achieved by every premium brand except Lexus and BMW.
