Commercial Van Sales In America - March 2016 YTD

U.S. sales of commercial vans shot up 27% in March 2016, a gain powered in large part by a 32% jump in full-size commercial van sales.

The Ford Transit, up 53% in March 2016, wasn't just the best-selling commercial or cargo van in America in March – it was the best-selling van overall. No minivan topped 13,600 sales.

The Transit and its two siblings, the E-Series and Transit Connect, controlled 54% of America's commercial van market in the first-quarter of 2016, down from 55% in 2015's first-quarter. The Transit Connect's 11% drop in a category which grew 19% was no help.

General Motors is the next-largest player in the sector. With three vans, GM's market share fell by one percentage point to 19% during the first three months of 2016.
