Check that. The first Pacifica sales occurred more than a decade ago, and the last first-generation Pacificas were sold in 2009. But that Pacifica wasn't a conventional sliding-doors MPV, but rather an early challenger to the modern midsize crossover class. This Pacifica is a successor to the soon-departing Chrysler Town & Country minivan, itself a twin of the Dodge Grand Caravan, Canada's best-selling minivan and best-selling three-row vehicle overall.

After a rough first-quarter, 2016 shows signs of improvement for the minivan class in Canada. Setting aside the mostly ignored mini-MPV class, "full-size" minivans jumped 15% in March after an 14% drop in January and February, the two lowest-volume auto sales months on the calendar.

It is worth noting, however, that sales in March 2016 did not at all recover to March 2014 levels. Instead, the year-over-year comparisons we're seeing in the early part of 2016 look back to a low period for Canada's minivan sector, when a plant shutdown at FCA's Windsor, Ontario, plant (for impending Pacifica production) brought sales low.

Regardless, the Fiat Chrysler trio owned 63% of their segment in March 2016; 62% in 2016's first-quarter.
